Most couples I photograph have the same problem. They’ve been together for years, travelled to a dozen places, and somehow own almost no photos of the two of them together. Just selfies, arms stretched out, half a face cut off.
A couple photoshoot fixes that. Ninety minutes, one place on the island with good light, and the two of you doing nothing more complicated than walking, talking and laughing. I take care of the rest.
I’ve been photographing couples in Gran Canaria since 2015 — on the dunes, in old streets, on hotel terraces and in the water.

Six Places I Love for Couple Photos
Every location gives a different mood. Tell me where you’re staying and what feels like you, and I’ll suggest the best fit and time.
Anfi del Mar — the Heart-Shaped Island
Just off the beach at Anfi there’s a small island built in the shape of a heart. The story goes that it was a gift from a wealthy man to his wife, so the romance comes with a backstory. White sand, turquoise water and palm trees make it one of the easiest places on the island for couple photos.
Maspalomas Dunes
Wide open sand, sky and the two of you — nothing else in the frame. I plan dune sessions for the last hours of the day, after about 4 pm, when the sun is lower and the sand is no longer burning. The ridges catch long shadows and the light turns warm.
Puerto de Mogán
People call it Little Venice: small canals, bridges, whitewashed houses and bougainvillaea spilling over the doorways. It’s colourful and softer than the beach — good if you want photos that don’t all look like holiday snapshots.
Las Canteras, Las Palmas
A three-kilometre city beach with calm water protected by a natural reef. In the afternoon and at sunset, the wet sand reflects the sky, and the light is lovely for walking shots. Good if you’re staying in the north or in Las Palmas.
Vegueta, the Old Town of Las Palmas
Narrow streets, stone stairs and colonial balconies, some of them centuries old. It suits couples who want something more like a city story than a beach day, and it works well even on a cloudy afternoon.
Agaete and the North
The village of Agaete has natural seawater pools and mountains rising straight out of the sea. Up the valley there’s a coffee and wine farm — a quiet, green setting most visitors never see.
Your hotel can be a good place too. Gardens, pool terraces and lobbies at hotels like Lopesan, Paradisus or Santa Catalina often work well, and the beach is usually a short walk away.
Not Comfortable in Front of the Camera?
Almost every couple tells me this in the first five minutes. Almost none of them still feel that way after twenty.
I don’t hand you a list of poses. I’ll tell you where to stand and where the light is best, then give you something simple to do — walk towards me, turn to each other, whisper something ridiculous. My job is more than pressing the shutter: I watch the angles, your hands, where you look, and I tell you when something small needs changing.
The best frames are almost always the moments in between — mid-laugh, mid-step, looking at each other instead of at me.
What to Wear, Hair and Makeup
Choose clothes you feel good in, in colours that work together without matching exactly. Light, flowing fabrics look great on the beach and in the dunes. Avoid big logos and very bright neon.

What’s the best time of day for couple photos?
The last 90 minutes before sunset. The light is soft and warm, and the dunes and beaches are cooler and quieter. Early morning also works well, especially if you want Maspalomas or the beaches almost empty.
Where is the best place for a couple photoshoot in Gran Canaria?
For a classic beach look, Anfi del Mar or Maspalomas beach. For something wild and open, the Maspalomas Dunes. For colour and charm, Puerto de Mogán or Vegueta in Las Palmas. I’ll suggest the best one based on where you’re staying and the style you like.
We’re not photogenic — will it still work?
Yes. Most couples feel awkward at the start. I guide you the whole time with small, simple directions, and within a few minutes you forget about the camera. The best photos usually come from the in-between moments.
How far in advance should we book?
Two to four weeks ahead is usually enough. For December, Easter and summer weekends, message me as soon as your travel dates are fixed.
